Some Possible Causes Of A Constant Headache?

by Barby Ingle

You often get a feeling of pain like prick, ache & tingle in some part of your brain, which you perceive as a signal that something’s wrong in your nervous system. This unpleasant feeling of pain in the brain is what we normally call a headache. Well, isn’t it normal? That happens with everybody, so it shouldn’t be a matter of apprehension. In normal scenarios, you get a headache; it lasts for a bit & eventually fades away. But sometimes a headache is not fleeting & becomes inescapable. Not only it stays, but also triggers other issues too. What are some possible causes of a constant headache?

Pertaining to that, the effects that headaches have on you are palpable. The first thing that’s noticeable about someone having an acute headache is their restlessness. They lose tranquility & remain fidgety & agitated throughout the painful episode of a headache. The continuous uneasiness aggravates it & causes severe anxiety, which leads to shortness of breath in many individuals. It’s evident how a mere headache can cause a ruckus in the brain & later shortness of breath.

It’s ironical how anxiety is the factor of headache & not vice versa. However, there are numerous possibilities of headaches, all of which we aren’t aware of. The causes can be explicit such as anxiety followed by shortness of breath & those which may not be visible & are subtle. E.g. anemia in which a person’s blood carries less oxygen & they remain fatigued & lethargic all the time. Such patients experience shortness of breath & get headaches too very frequently.

Some noteworthy causes of persistent headaches are:

Lack of sleep

A sleep-deprived person is more prone to headaches than an individual who gets sufficient sleep & has a proper sleep pattern. Not getting enough sleep at night disturbs the brain’s activity & disrupts its normal functioning.

Poor eyesight

Weak eyesight is one of the common factors which brings about a headache. A person with poor eye visibility has weak optic nerves — nerves which transmit signals to & from the brain. Having weak optic nerves weakens the signals being brought to or sent from the brain. Thus, it causes a headache.

Poor hygiene

An emaciated person who has poor hygiene get headaches more frequently than a healthy person. A good diet ensures good health & reduces the frequency of headaches. Make sure you eat healthy & maintain good hygiene.

Anxiety

As mentioned earlier, anxiety is the root cause of headaches. A spontaneous panic attack when worsens become anxiety. The sufferer experiences palpitations & rapid heartbeat. This puts the heart under tremendous pressure & the person feels pain in the chest. Chest pain is followed by sweating & losing control over one’s self. The patient undergoes extreme mental suffering & gets a headache with sharp pain. Someone who has anxiety disorders might get perpetual headaches due to anxiety.

Environment

It is of paramount importance that the environment you are breathing in is healthy & positive because it greatly affects a person’s health. If your surrounding is noisy, smelly, polluting & has secondhand tobacco smoke, it is likely for you to develop a headache. This leads to permanent headaches if the surrounding is not changed. When considering factors, make sure you ponder over your environment too.

Genetics

Headaches can be inherited just like any other disease passed on to the offspring by parents. That could be one of the reasons why you keep getting headaches.

Stress

Generally, stress is the most common cause of a headache. From children to adults, all stress out to a great deal. We don’t understand but taking too much stress damages the brain & other organs. You can find every other person stressing over some petty issue & complaining about headaches. Being stressed out all the time gives you persistent headaches.

Hormonal Issues

Hormonal imbalances bring about abrupt changes within the body. Dealing with hormonal issues puts you through hassle from time to time. These are more common in females who experience more headaches during their menstrual cycle. If you are a female & facing hormonal issues, this could be the reason why you get constant headaches.

Dehydration

Water regulates blood flow & ensures chemical processes inside the body take place at their natural rate. This gives your metabolism a boost. Drinking water in excess does wonders to the body, but insufficient water intake can lead to dehydration. If you are perpetually staying dehydrated, then it is no surprise that you will get consistent headaches.

Other possible factors include

Chronic disease: If you get headaches from time to time & is suffering from chronic health conditions such as diabetes & migraine, then this could be the reason why you keep getting headaches.

Blood clots: Extreme mental suffering & agony in the form of tension & depression can cause blood clots to be formed in the brain. The condition is called thrombosis.

Meningitis: An infection in which the membrane covering the outer part of the brain & spinal cord swells.

Brain injury: If a person had a traumatic brain injury earlier in life & healed; it could be possible that they are getting headaches due to the injury over & over again.

Types of headaches

Sinus Headaches

Cluster Headaches

Hemicranias Continua

Thunderclap Headaches

Above are the possible reasons why you are getting acute headaches. Apart from them, there could be more causes that are contributing to your head pains.
