A Journey Back To Wholeness Series; Floatation Therapy By M.Mays

It is no coincidence that the acronym for Restricted Environmental Stimulation Therapy is R.E.S.T.

Because it’s arguable that a Float is one of THE most restorative options for healing and relaxation alike. A tub of skin temperature water. Consisting of such a high content of salt, it defies gravity.

By every pound of our weight being embraced-  this relieves pressure points, eases joints, soothes muscles and temporary refrain from indulging in the senses; with darkened surroundings, soundproof tank, no received input from outside world creates an opportunity for what’s occurring inwardly. To make it to surface, when brain power doesn’t have to be designated toward management of juggling so much at once, energy can then be freed up and become devoted to caring for ourselves in other ways that matter, too. Such as our hearts, minds, and souls.

Tanks have also proven helpful for experiences such as PTSD:  Floats can be an incorporated tool that assist us in the work toward revitalization throughout tissues, neurons, atoms, fibers.  As humans,  ‘rebooting’ systems is as necessary for people as it is for computers. Think of all the information ‘downloaded’ (in our minds n thereby bodies) throughout time here on Earth. Eliminations of “files” or stored feelings/thoughts. As well as “upgrades” of personal evolution, growth are demanded if the ‘machine’ (body) is to function optimally but when are we taking conscious time out of the day to reflect upon any of this?

Most would answer rarely if ever,  the goal is to isolate the brain from typical perceptual experience. If our perception is based on our realities and each of us experiences reality differently. This means we’re unable to rely upon the outside world for the affirmation and validation we are in need of, in order to thrive into a healthier version of ourselves.

Physiological Needs

Float therapy can be an outlet for those on the edge of burnout, help ease symptoms of anxiety or depression and assist in easing chronic-pain conditions.

Generally as a human race, yet specifically those living in a persistent state of ailment/illness, embody an on-going deficit in feeling / internalizing safety and security needs within our own bodies. It proves difficult to function in a body that is thought to be causing us harm. If our inner environment is not deemed safe, the nervous system among others, goes into overdrive attempting to seek refuge; the energy being devoted there means other basic necessities aren’t being addressed or attended to, as the need for safety remains the highest priority and though these security needs are important for survival. They aren’t as imperative as the basic physiological needs of maintaining an internal sense of safety is possible with practice and ‘resetting’ from the inside to out.

Float Therapy,  nor any other modality mentioned in #AJourneyBackToWholeness series is intended to TREAT anything but can serve as BENEFICIAL.

Who’s to say how much research is applicable in solidifying these findings that explain why potential benefits are possible or to discredit data that is already accumulated?  Medical care should incorporate alternative options that support the empowerment of patients in relation to their own Self-studies, as we are our own science experiment and although each experience differs, fundamentally, we are all more similar than different, 99% made up of the same six elements: oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, calcium, and phosphorus. Thereby approaches that incorporate attention to the entirety of our vessels, can prove helpful to anyone and have a lasting impact regarding the therapeutic effect. Combine that with teamwork alongside trained medical professionals, with actively participating in the quality of our own Self-care. A new way and improved overall quality of life becomes possible.
