A Journey Back To Wholeness Series Energy Healing By M.Mays
DISCLAIMER: The pieces in this series are not to be considered official medical advice. As with any health care treatment option, there are risks that each individual must consider, pros/cons to be weighed and ultimately a personally made decision for what’s believed to be best for themselves. Though meant to serve as unbiased and educational, this series was written based on over two decades of personal experience. It is by no means is intended to speak or be true, for all.
You are invited to enjoy with an open-mind and heart, take what resonates and leave the rest.
I find it very interesting that some modalities that have been around longer than any man-made medication or westernized therapy, are repeatedly called into question or even flat out doubted – supposedly because there’s no “science” to back up claims that they work or can help.
It’s important to realize that the praises of preventative or alternative practices aren’t often sung because they are not as profitable and they offer benefits that could ultimately eliminate the need for so much counsel elsewhere. What I mean by this is it’s incredibly empowering to authentically venture through and take more control over our own personal journey of healing.
Ultimately, illness/pain call us to become our own scientists due to possessing unique genetic makeup and body chemistries and any ‘facts’ or ‘data’ presented to us doesn’t ring true for all, so why not explore what could be most applicable for you as an individual?
Unfortunately, current day systems are set up in such a way that we’re indoctrinated to believe that all the answers exist outside of ourselves. Thus we often invest in the idea we’re helpless and others with white coats and fancy degrees know more about us/what we need than we ever could.
Don’t get me wrong
There’s a place for traditional medicine. I myself have a background in it and I’m grateful we have access to technological advances that are cutting edge/lifesaving. The truth, is as a result of this pandemic: there’s a caregiver shortage, even many of those who have been tough enough to remain are burnt out and let’s not negate the facts that accessibility/affordability are constant issues. There doesn’t have to be this ‘pick one or the other’ ultimatum when it comes to health. What could be referred to as sacred medicine as well as mainstream approaches can/do both exist and when applied collectively, offer a more *whole* approach to the entirety of one’s being as opposed to remaining fixated solely on the physical/mechanical, as though the body is a machine and we aren’t humans so much as problems to be fixed.
The reality is, if we’re committed to the process of our own relief and remain determined to reflect upon ourselves as MORE than just our experiences, limitations, ailments or diagnoses then nothing can get in the way or stop us from the pursuit of alleviating dis-ease.
If we limit ourselves to believing that’s impossible, then there isn’t anything anyone can do to help (including ourselves) and that robs us of opportunities or the potential possibilities for an improved state of existing and quality of life.
Not everybody is ready to accept all this as being their personal responsibility
I was one of them but a few years ago after being confronted with the knowledge that trauma had essentially always been a part of my life and that I’d subconsciously been carrying the weight of that since before I can even remember. As well as dealing with daily/intractable/constant/never-ending discomfort, the interconnectedness could not be denied nor disregarded that the basic need for a sense of safety within was not only constantly threatened but simply did not have the space to be.
It has been one of the most difficult processes of my life, to fight for a sense of security all the while it’s continually being compromised by my own body but upon making the decision to internalize then work to let go of the suffering aspect, it offered an internal dialogue that ultimately led to the development of an inner relationship and I began approaching myself as a loved one. Receiving the messages of hurt as my body’s attempt to communicate with me and be heard. I spent so much time attempting to run away from the things I felt, but that just meant I was abandoning myself and limiting my own potential.
